Product introduction
Quartz sand filter is a filter with quartz sand filter material, which is mainly used to intercept sediment, colloid and fine particles. Quartz sand filter is an important part of the pre-treatment system for advanced purification and chemical water preparation of sewage treatment.

working principle
Quartz sand filter adopts a form of physical filtration. It can be generally divided into loose area (coarse sand) and closed area (fine) according to the loading mode of filter materials. The agglomeration function of materials in loose area is mainly through moving contact, so this area intercepts suspended solids of larger particles. The closed area is mainly inertial collision and filtering between suspended particles, so this area intercepts suspended solids of smaller particles.
When the excessive impurities left in the quartz sand filter affect its normal operation, the backwashing method can be used for cleaning. The reverse water inlet is used to loosen the filter layer in the filter, which can peel off the impurities adhering to the filter material surface. It is also taken away by the backwash water, which is conducive to removing the sediment and suspended solids in the filter layer, preventing the filter material from hardening, so as to fully recover its sewage interception capacity, thus achieving the purpose of cleaning. The circulation is controlled by setting the differential pressure between the inlet and outlet.

matters needing attention
1. When the system is operated for the first time or after long-term shutdown, the filter material shall be washed until the water is clear. At the same time, exhaust the equipment: open the exhaust valve, water inlet valve, and then water inlet until there is no air in the outlet of the exhaust valve (some small filters do not have separate exhaust valves, but can use the outlet for exhaust).
2. For small filters, the produced water of the filter is used for backwashing, and the backwashing intensity is controlled at 10~15 L/s · m2. For large filters, air can be used for scrubbing to enhance the backwashing effect. Generally, compressed air (15~25 L/s · m2) is introduced, and then air water backwashing is carried out.
3. During equipment backwashing, the backwashing intensity shall be controlled to prevent filter material from leaking out of the equipment.
4. According to the quality of the incoming water, the filter material should be replaced regularly, usually once every 2-3 years.
