Product introduction
The filter medium of manganese sand filter is manganese sand, which mainly removes iron and manganese ions from water. Iron and manganese have been in the underground (well) water almost at the same time. When the iron content in the water is high, the water has a smell of iron, which affects the taste of the water. As production water for paper making, textile, printing and dyeing, chemical industry, leather refinement, etc., the product quality will be reduced. The iron containing water can cause rust stains on production equipment, yellow or brown stains on clothes when washed, and iron sediment Fe2O3 can grow iron bacteria, block the pipeline, and sometimes red water will appear.

working principle
After the groundwater containing iron (manganese) is aerated or added with oxidant, the iron (manganese) ions in the water begin to oxidize. When the water flows through the manganese sand filter layer, contact oxidation reaction occurs in the filter layer, and the biochemical action and physical interception adsorption on the surface of the filter material enable the iron (manganese) ions in the water to be precipitated and removed. Especially in the process of treating micro polluted manganese bearing groundwater, iron bacteria can not only effectively remove iron and manganese, but also metabolize ammonia in the water as a nutrient source. With the participation of other bacteria, the effect of ammonia nitrogen removal can be achieved at the same time.

matters needing attention
1. When the system is operated for the first time or after long-term shutdown, the filter material shall be washed for about 5 minutes until the water is clear, and the equipment shall be vented.
2. In the process of removing iron and manganese from groundwater, PH value is the key factor affecting the removal of iron and manganese. The higher the PH value is, the faster the oxidation rate of Fe2+and Mn2+is, and the easier the iron and manganese are to be removed.
3. Manganese sand filter generally exists the phenomenon of "saturation" and "passivation" of manganese sand in the actual use process, which greatly reduces the manganese removal capacity. The principle of backwashing is to observe the backwashing effluent, when the water flow gradually becomes clear or close to the end of clear water backwashing.
4. During equipment backwashing, the backwashing intensity shall be controlled well. Generally, the backwashing intensity shall be controlled at 15~20L/m2 · s, and the leakage of filter material from the equipment shall be avoided.
5. According to the quality of the incoming water, the filter material should be replaced regularly, usually once every 2-3 years.
