Product introduction
Multi media filter is a process that uses several filter media to pass water with high turbidity through granular or non granular materials with a certain thickness under a certain pressure, so as to effectively remove suspended impurities and make water clear. The commonly used filter media are quartz sand, anthracite, ceramsite, etc., which are mainly used for water treatment turbidity removal, softened water, pre stage pretreatment of pure water, etc. The effluent turbidity can be less than 3 degrees.

working principle
The multi-media filter materials in the multi-media filter are high-quality homogeneous gravel, quartz sand, anthracite and other filter materials. These filter materials are scientifically and orderly distributed in the filter tank according to their specific gravity and particle size. For example, anthracite with small specific gravity and slightly large particle size is placed on the top layer of the filter bed, quartz sand with moderate specific gravity and small particle size is placed on the middle layer of the filter bed, and gravel with large specific gravity and particle size is placed on the bottom layer of the filter bed. This ratio ensures that the filter will not have disordered layers during backwashing, thus ensuring the retention capacity of the filter material.
The multi-media filter is pressure type. Its principle is that when the raw water passes through the filter material from top to bottom, the suspended solids in the water are trapped on the surface of the filter layer due to adsorption and mechanical blocking; When the water flows into the middle of the filter layer, because the sand particles in the filter material layer are arranged more closely, the particles in the water have more opportunities to collide with the sand particles, so the surface of the flocs, suspended solids and sand particles in the water adhere to each other, and the impurities in the water are trapped in the filter material layer, thus obtaining clear water quality.

matters needing attention
1. When the system is operated for the first time or after long-term shutdown, the filter material shall be washed until the water is clear. At the same time, exhaust the equipment: open the exhaust valve, water inlet valve, and then water inlet until there is no air in the outlet of the exhaust valve (some small filters do not have separate exhaust valves, but can use the outlet for exhaust).
2. For small filters, the produced water of the filter is used for backwashing, and the backwashing intensity is controlled at 10~15 L/s · m2. For large filters, air can be used for scrubbing to enhance the backwashing effect. Generally, compressed air (15~25 L/s · m2) is introduced, and then air water backwashing is carried out.
3. During equipment backwashing, the backwashing intensity shall be controlled to prevent filter material from leaking out of the equipment.
4. According to the quality of the incoming water, the filter material should be replaced regularly, usually once every 2-3 years.
